Lower security If you choose lower security login the site stores your username and password in a cookie. Why is this good? If we use a cookie to store the username and password, then you don't have to re-login in case of a browser or machinre restart, so it's more comfortable. This used to be the default behavior of the site. (This is not about the password saving routine of the browser!) And why bad? To store login information in a cookie is far not secure. If you use a public access computer to visit the site (school, library, netcafe or even your friend's machine), then 'Logout' is not enough, you also have to delete the cookies. Despite of this, there is a chance, that someone can get your login information. What should you do? We advise, that if you use a public access machine NEVER USE lower security. But if you're on your home computer, you can safely enable it. Warning! This setting only affects storing login information in cookies. Cookies still must be enabled in the browser to use the site! |
